LINX Launch Closed User Group Services

Following interest and demand from their community, the London Internet Exchange (LINX) are now giving their members the opportunity to create Closed User Groups to deliver or access a particular service.

A Closed User Group is a method of allowing a group of networks to pass traffic exclusively between themselves. Typically, this is for a specific group task, such as communicating between suppliers or for passing voice traffic between members. It can also be used by LINX members offering their services for consumption across the LINX fabric, for example, DDoS protection services.

LINX currently offers interconnection services in the UK, US and Middle East to over 950 member network ASNs and are actively growing their service offering to meet member needs. The new Closed User Group service is currently available at LINX in London, LON1 and LON2 networks and at regional interconnection points, LINX Manchester and LINX NoVA in the US.

Jo Fereday is Product Manager for LINX;

“We were approached by a number of members to introduce this service, so we are really pleased to be delivering it for them. Closed User Groups will give our members a faster and more secure way of communicating with likeminded networks with similar needs or interest.”

“What’s also especially pleasing is that we are able to deliver this service using our network automation platform, this helps eliminate user error and speed up the provisioning process for our members.”

The LINX Closer User Group service was communicated to members at the recent LINX113 virtual meeting and is available to order now through the member portal and new enquiries or questions can reach out to joinhelp@linx.net for more information.
