LINX Self-Service Portal Functionality: Where Efficiency Meets Innovation

If you are a LINX member network but haven’t logged in the member portal recently, you may want to take a look as our self-service functionality is growing all the time.

The start of the LINX self-service journey for their members started back in November 2022 when the first elements went live

And the LINX Software team have not stopped looking for further improvements for our members user journey since!

What is Self-Service?

Self-service means that LINX members can access resources, add additional services and make changes to existing services without requiring assistance from a LINX member of staff.

LINX members now have the ability to add new ports and additional services, amend existing services like turning bandwidth up and down and making MAC address changes.

Data centre location moves and amending the LINX port type from a regular (no port encapsulation) to a multi-service port (with port encapsulation) are also tasks that members can carry out by the click of a button in the portal.

Multi-service ports allow members use all LINX services on a single port instead of just utilising the port for peering alone.

Is there Automation?

Much of the self-service functionality is now automated compared to 12-18 months ago. There are still manual steps in place for some parts of the workflow, for security, performance or third party involvement reasons, however the LINX Software team are continually making improvements.

These are the fully automated actions so far:

  • Port access orders and upgrades
  • All port-based services orders and upgrades
  • Peering
  • Private VLAN
  • Cloud Connect
  • Closed User Groups
  • Microsoft Azure Peering Service (MAPS)

When ordering new services, LINX members are taken through the stages of automation;

  • Order Submitted
  • Inventory
  • Quality Assurance
  • Provisioning
  • Completed

Not Sure How to Submit a Self-Service Order? No Problem!

If you are looking to get ports or changes in place quickly, then the self-service process starts the provisioning straight away as part of the automation.

We’re here to help. Please review member portal documentation on LINX Community; https://community.linx.net/portal-docs-zogpsuwc

Our NOC can be contacted at support@linx.net or via the chat function on the LINX Member Portal https://portal.linx.net for a portal walkthrough.
