LINX NoVA Achieves 4-Fold Traffic Increase

Significant traffic growth at LINX’s Northern Virginia site comes after success of recent infrastructure enhancements optimizing interconnection services and the addition of new local and global access networks. Just in time for new industry event PTC’DC in Washington!

LINX NoVA has reported a remarkable four-fold increase in maximum traffic this year alone, a reflection of a growing demand for reliable, high-capacity interconnection services driven by organizations’ increasing reliance on cloud services and data-intensive applications. This increase also emphasizes the interconnection point’s ability to efficiently manage significantly higher data volumes while maintaining essential factors such as speed, reliability and security.

The rise in traffic signifies that LINX NoVA is increasingly becoming a preferred hub for network interconnection within the region. This increased traffic volumes also highlights scalability and preparedness for future demands, as the platform is not only adept at meeting current needs but is also strategically positioned to handle ongoing growth, making it a robust, future-proof solution for its members and the broader internet community.

Strategic Reinvestment for Member Benefits

As a non-profit organization, LINX is uniquely positioned to reinvest directly into enhancing its exchange services. This strategy has been important in maintaining LINX NoVA’s competitive edge, with continuous infrastructure upgrades and the integration of new technologies that benefit all members. The recent technology refresh with Nokia, which introduced advanced 400GE capabilities, has been a key factor in this success.

Additionally, the deployment of the Microsoft Azure Peering Service (MAPS) has further optimized performance for enterprises relying on cloud services like Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics 365. These enhancements have contributed to the drastic increase in traffic, demonstrating the effectiveness of these strategic investments.

Richard Petrie, Chief Technology Officer at LINX, commented,

“Our commitment to technological innovation is central to our mission of providing unparalleled service to our members. The recent surge in traffic at LINX NoVA is a direct result of our focus on deploying the most advanced technology available, ensuring that we remain at the top of the industry.”

The increased traffic capacity at LINX NoVA translates directly into tangible benefits for its members. Improved data transfer speeds, reduced latency and greater network reliability are just a few of the enhancements now available.

These improvements are particularly beneficial for members looking to manage complex network requirements, optimize peering relationships and reduce operational costs. Additionally, LINX NoVA’s strong data center partnerships and neutrality ensure that all members and potential networks, regardless of their infrastructure, can equally benefit from the IXP’s services.

Looking ahead, LINX NoVA is well-positioned to accommodate further traffic growth and technological advancements. The infrastructure investments made to date have not only enhanced current capabilities but have also laid the groundwork for future innovations.

“LINX remains committed to expanding its network and introducing new services that will continue to benefit our members and the broader internet community,” said Jennifer Holmes, LINX Chief Commercial Officer. “The four-fold increase in traffic at LINX NoVA is a huge milestone that opens new opportunities for our members to leverage enhanced connectivity and performance.”
