LINX and Telehouse Collaborate in Cloud Demands

The London Internet Exchange (LINX) continue to go the extra mile for their community as they connect one of their member networks to the Telehouse Cloud Link platform, hosted by data centre partner Telehouse, from their London Docklands campus.

LINX specialise primarily in peering and interconnection, allowing networks to meet and exchange Internet traffic more cost effectively and with increased resilience. This improves the overall end user experience, whilst providing the network with security and control.

With their main peering platforms in London and additional regional Internet exchanges across the UK, LINX has been working for the good of the Internet for over 25 years, their core membership consisting of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and networks traditionally in the telecoms industry. However, more recently, networks from the enterprise and finance sector are taking control of their own networks, and LINX are definitely seeing an increase in members from this segment as they adopt a hybrid approach of cloud services, peering and more.

Jo Fereday, Product Manager at LINX says;

We have been working with this particular member from the finance sector very closely since they joined LINX a couple of years ago. They were new to peering and we’ve supported them through the process…”

“It’s been great to be able to support them further on cloud connection services, as this remains a crucial part of their network management, our strong relationship with Telehouse made this easy to put in place.”

Telehouse’s Cloud Link services offers LINX members and Telehouse customers the ability to directly access cloud service providers within the Telehouse London Docklands campus without the need to extend their network beyond the Telehouse campus.

Nick Layzell, Senior Manager, Managed Services at Telehouse explains;

“With the continued move towards truly hybrid infrastructure, businesses can rest assured that they are able to connect to public cloud in the most secure and reliable way, while taking advantage of the extensive connectivity ecosystem Telehouse and LINX provides. Our Cloud Access services can benefit many LINX members that may already be within our facility or peering at LINX.”

This will be the first customer to take up the advantage of Telehouse’s Cloud Link Exchange in order to access Microsoft ExpressRoute’s London2 location.
